Tea has always been one of my favorite drinks and since I studied in Beijing, China for a year, I have learned to appreciate it more. Tea is my Dad's "water". He starts his day by brewing a fresh pot of Oolong Tea while reading his morning paper.

Milk tea has become a favorite of mine and lately I've been missing the milk tea from Happy Lemon and 8 Birds Hokkaido (both in Beijing :( ) so imagine my delight when I stumbled upon the blog of Fran weeks ago and read her post regarding SereniTEA.

Being the lakwatchera that I am, I urged my friends to go with me and try it out. I had the Royal Milk Tea with 50% sugar. I would like to commend SereniTEA for taking into consideration that some people prefer their tea sweet while some do not. Therefore I suggest that you all go to SereniTEA and try out their customized drinks.

I have yet to come back and try the other varieties. By the way, they also gave me a loyalTEA (ain't that cute??) card wherein I can get a 20% discount on the 5th drink while 10th drink that you get is for free. Talk about value for money.

The finale of my Beijing food series because some pictures are old already and I've forgotten about my comments regarding the food!boo. procrastination is me. haha

2nd stop. Element Fresh @ The Village, Sanlitun

I had the pan seared scallops with blanched spinach, pepper rice and crayfish remoulade (dressing made with hard-boiled egg yolks, oil, and vinegar, and flavored with mustard, capers, herbs and of course, crayfish)

It was okay. The scallops were big and the remoulade was creamy with chunks of crayfish in it. I did not like the rice, I'm not a big fan of bell pepper.haha price was around...150rmb if I remember right..1050php.

3rd stop. DinDinXiang, hotpot at 新光天地Mall

picture on upper right: (L-R) fish with tobiko (flying fish roe) paste, shrimp paste and cuttlefish with cilantro paste.

The place was very nice. A high end hotpot but I wouldn't eat here again unless its for a light business dinner. Too pricey and I wasn't full even after eating a looot of meat (beef rib eye and lamb). They don't have plain rice too so...there.not full. :(

1st stop: 新光天地，北京 (Shin Kong Place, Beijing)

DIN TAI FUNG --One of the Top 10 restaurants in the World according to the New York Times..

Sauteed Sweet Shrimps -- crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside..I think they dipped the shrimps in syrup before frying coz when you eat it, there is syrup coming out of the shrimp meat.. yummy and great starter to our meal. Costs 35rmb (245php)

Next up are the ever famous Xiao Long Bao's (soup dumplings that come with a variety of fillings) of Din Tai Fung.. The one on the left is pork and shrimp xiaolongbao..It comes with a bowl of soup and one order=around 50rmb (350php). Its not cheap, I know, but it is worth every penny =)

This one on the right is filled with pork and hairy crab roe..It is really tasty and a bit more expensive than the first xiaolongbao..It is around 65rmb (455php).

I have tried the other fillings before but i didn't get the chance to take pictures but I assure you, everything is GOOD =)

Lastly, the Hairy Crab with Silken Tofu. Could it get any better than this?? I thought the dumplings were awesome..but wow, It gets better and better. This goes great with plain rice.. Sums up a really great lunch. Gonna get high blood from all the fat..but I still give this restaurant a 10/10!=)

Every meal isn't complete with dessert.. so for the grand finale...we went to Fauchon (A french Bakeshop) , also located in the same mall for a mini chocolate cake. Oh man, this cake need not be chewed, it simply melts in your mouth! You can see that the chocolate ganache was perfectly done (notice how shiny and smooth it is??). It had a praline crust topped with layers of dark chocolate mousse and dark chocolate cake. 1cake=45rmb(315php) expensive, but definitely a must try when you visit Beijing. =)

Drool. I just left Beijing this morning and now...I MISS THE FOOD ALREADY!!!怎么办？！

So me and 5 of my friends went out for dinner last night. We ate at Tang Palace! Yummy Seafood Resto located at a hotel near the Forbidden City. When we first got there, we couldn't read the menu!haha so we had to point at the live seafood and the server had to explain each cooking method!haha that's the challenge but we proved to be successful since the food that we ate was scrumptious and fresh.

We had baby prawns, steamed sole, stir fried clams with Black Bean sauce, sauteed pacific clams, some cold cuts (asado=charsiu, roast duck, jellyfish and lechon macau=similar to lechon kawali) beef brisket with tendon stew, creamy dumpling (mochi with cream and fruit filling). Sorry, no pictures...I left my camera :( Everything was good, a bit expensive but it was worth it! We felt as if we were back in the Philippines. Haha seafood is love.

first thing to do when we go back to Manila...GO TO DAMPA. haha! yummy seafood at a very affordable price!!

Tomorrow's the day of the test and I'm sick and tired of studying. I barely studied today, just reviewed a bit with one of my friends and then when 5 of our other friends came, we just chatted the whole time. OMG. haha I feel that I can (hopefully!!*crosses fingers*) pass, but I'm not sure if I'm going to get a high grade(*prays*).

I have this bet with two of my friends, lowest out of three tests has to treat the other two for dinner...I don't wanna lose but I don't want to study anymore! I need to relax now coz I might get stressed tomorrow and forget everything!!So here I am, blogging!haha

I may have discovered the best part time job that I could ever wish for (thanks to a friend). But!!!! I can't apply!!because I'm going homeeeee...huhu!! Read on!

Main responsibilities:
-Visit premium restaurants in Shanghai and Beijing on regular basis, normally 5 – 10 times a month.
-All meals are FREE of charge to the English critic. All our membership restaurants are priced from 100 RMB/head to 500 RMB/head. The dining experiences in these premium and luxury restaurants are excellent.
-The English Restaurant Critic will be accompanied to the meals by a Chinese editor who is in charge of liaising with the restaurant and introducing the food.
-The English editor shall write up a food review, minimum 500-800 words, in 3–5 days after the meal. The food review covers the food quality, environment, service, price, menu, dining experience, etc.
-The English critic will take notes on the menu and what is introduced by the restaurant staff.
-Best Food in China editors will manage the reviews written by the English critic on our website – www.bestfoodinchina.net

-The English Restaurant Critic must be a native English speaker
-Speaking Mandarin is a plus

Since Alex reminded me of my "secret"foodie blog, I just HAD to check it out again.haha here is one of the FEW(haha actually 2 lang) entries :p __________________________________________________________________

Ever remember the food that you ate during your childhood days? I do. Here's a list of my so called "comfort food":

First on the list is CHICKEN. I was a bit different as a kid. Most kids loved chicken with gravy, but i preferred salsa or catsup. My all time favorite is El Pollo Loco's chicken with mild salsa and their spanish pilaf. yumm ahh the mere thought of it makes my mouth water. Sometimes I also wrap the chicken and rice with a tortilla and make it into a chicken burrito. yumm =)

Next is CHAMPORADO. A filipino native chocolate flavored rice porridge. Top it with evaporated milk and you can go straight to heaven..REALLY! I just love it especially on a rainy day.

Don't you just love Dulcinea's CHURROS Con Chocolate and BRAZO DE MERCEDES?? When I was a kid I would often order churros..dip it in chocolate then dip it again in sugar(yes I know i'm a sugar addict). yumm just writing about it is making me crave for some right now! Brazo De Mercedes however is a simple dessert made out of eggs and I really love its light base and filling center.

Another childhood favorite..eating at Pancake House. I love their spaghetti!When I was a kid, I used to order just spaghetti but now I order their mix and match combo#3 which is a small portion of spaghetti, burger steak and sauteed vegetables plus an extra order of plain rice. Of course, no meal is not complete without dessert! I love their bacon waffle so much I can finish it in 5 minutes! __________________________________________________________________

Ahh just reading this entry is making my mouth water!!! and the WORSE PART issss!!!IM IN BEIJING!I CAN'T EAT THE STUFF ON THIS LIST NO MATTER HOW MUCH I WANT TO. huhu gahh i miss food in the Philippines =(

I've been packing on pounds this Christmas Season..Is this the point of no return??I hope NOT. haha off to bed now. Goodnight friends!

Started a blog to have an outlet to rant and rave about anything and everything. Had blogs before but then I never maintained any of them, well hope this one is different.. Please forgive my writing, I never was the writing type :p

Had a blast last night! First, me and 12 of my FilChi friends went to Pullman Steakhouse (Gong Ren Ti Yu Chang Dong Men De Dui Mian, Chaoyang District 85871055) for dinner. Me and two friends shared an order of Caesar Salad, 900g Prime Rib (that was roasted to perfection! and only at 360rmb=2520php), Tiramisu, Brownie Cake and Creme Brulee!! Ahh..the meal was so worth it and we only spent around 1000php each! the service was also great by the way..anyhoo..

We went to Alfa, a quaint little bar in Chaoyang District. We just hung around for 20minutes.. haha the point was to get a "buzz" before going to the New Year's Eve Party! a bottle of Jack Daniels and 4 cans of coke later..off to The Place for the New Year's Eve Party: GENESIS by Acupuncture Records.

The party was divided in two, Retro (old school rock and punk) and Futuristic (trance and house music). We tried both of course, there were a lot of foreigners as well as local chinese people. The dance floors weren't as packed as I expected..but nevertheless, it was a great way to celebrate New Year!! Downed three more glasses of rumcoke but then I didn't get the buzz that I was looking for..Oh well, next year then!haha

These days I always seem to find myself..nostalgic..I don't know if its because its cold in the winter or because it is Christmas season..I MISS MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS back in the Philippines :(

Oh well, on to happy thoughts!

I always make a LOT of New Year's Resolutions..but i never kept it any of 'em, so for a change, I will make only three that I REALLY INTEND ON KEEPING.

1. WORK/STUDY. find a happy job and figure out what I REALLY WANT TO DO with my life.

2. Speak at least 1 sentence of Chinese everyday (In the Philippines) haha I'm scared that I'm going to forget EVERYTHING once I go back.

3. Quit a bad habit. Haha!

Goodbye 2008!I have no regrets!Cheers to 2009 and to New Year's Resolutions that we intend on keeping!!
